Rohit Kumar, the 19-year-old son of a retired CRPF personnel from Bihar's Mokama district, has been invited to an international lecture along with 50 other young researchers at The BountyCon in Singapore. He and the others were invited from several countries of the Asia-Pacific region, for the lecture on cyber-security advancements and advents, which is part of the two-day global security conference on March 30 and 31.
The BountyCon was jointly launched by Facebook and Google and will feature top security researchers in the Asia-Pacific region, who can help detect and identify vulnerabilities in cyber networks. It will be hosting this global conference this year. Rohit Kumar, who is pursuing BCA (honours) from Lovely Professional University (LPU) at Jalandhar in Punjab, was selected for his academic brilliance. In 2018, Kumar was included in the 'Facebook Hall of Fame', and was listed among the world's top 20 security researchers. Impressed at his extensive works on security-related digital areas, Kumar has been directly invited by Zach Turk, the security program manager at Facebook(US) to join The BountyCon's global conference in Singapore.
Communication consultant (CC) of LPU, Abhishekh Kumar said, "It is a matter of immense pride for both Bihar and India equally that a 19-year-old student from a small suburban district like Mokama has been invited to one of the biggest security conferences in the Asia-Pacific region." The CC further added that Rohit was previously invited to the first edition of the 'China-India Mobile Phone and Component Manufacturing Summit' a few years ago.
Elated by the invitation, Rohit said that he will be lecturing not only on researches but also the discoveries that have been attributed to Indian researchers. "India is in an advanced position globally on security researches and hopefully will get access to the world's most advanced security technology in the years to come", he added. He stressed on the need of having an institute of international standards for promoting security researches in Bihar, with plenty of new talents emerging from the state. He is also one of the youngest entrepreneurs in the country running two different start-ups. Ashwani Tewary, Dean, School of Computer Application at LPU, said Rohit's keen interest in ethical hacking had led him to participate at the Hackathons recently.
