Twelve members from the Delhi University North East Cell of the Akil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad resigned from the student party in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill. The 12 students all occupied key positions in the cell including general secretary, joint secretary, social media ahead among others.

The BJP introduced the Citizenship Amendment Bill in Parliament today despite heavy protests and opposition. Congress, TMC, Samajwadi party and other opposition parties have called the Bill 'unconstitutional', yet Home Minister Amit Shah tabled the bill in the Parliament and 293 MPs have also voted in favour of the Bill in the first face. This, even as students in Delhi lead by JNU are on the march against the Citizenship Bill and the NRC.

Sheikh Raisha Tabassum, the general secretary resigned from her post from the ABVP's North East Cell. Speaking on why she was also participating in today's march, Tabassum said on Facebook, "Amidst exams, today we walked out to show our protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill because we are here, miles away from our homes, to gain knowledge and go back to our homeland to serve it. We can't imagine that day when one day we will be turned out to be ethnic minorities in our own state," About her quitting the ABVP, Tabassum had also said that she 'could never accept something that was against Assam'.

The others who resigned are Liza Gogoi and Bishnuparna Dutta, the join secretary, Tanmoy Deka, the finance President, Niyor Sarma, students welfare president, Tanmaya Mahanta, students welfare secretary, Srishti Dey, cultural president, Rian Dutta, cultural secretary, Shraddha Suman Saharea, girl student welfare president, Sahil Ahmed, literary president, Aditi, Information and Coordination head and Ananya Dutta, social media head.
