The students of Aligarh Muslim University have 'expelled' their VC and registrar. No, you don't have to reread that sentence. The students have 'collectively' decided to expel the two administrators and have demanded that they vacate their lodge as well.

The students issued a notice to the VC Prof Tariq Mansoor and the Registrar S Hamid. The students, teaching and non- teaching staff have all collectively asked the two to vacate their lodge until January 5. 

"Failing to do so, the students and teachers will boycott the administration until they resign and vacate their positions. No activity shall take place in the campus until they have left the campus," the students wrote. This is the second such notice that the students are issuing. They had issued a similar notice to the VC and the administration on the first day that they launched their protests against CAA. And that point the students had issued a show cause notice. 

The students have accused the members of the administration of giving permission to the police to enter the campus and beat up the students during the anti-CAA protests and are also claiming that they are not doing enough to help the students conduct an investigation into the violence. 

Following the violence in Jamia, the UP police also launched an attack on AMU students. Several have suffered serious injuries, hostel rooms were also set on fire and the internet was also blocked in several areas of Aligarh. The students have yet continued to protest against the Act.
