The police have booked a youth who issued a life threat to senior BJP leader and former Tumakuru Rural MLA B Suresh Gowda on a Facebook post.

“Let us kill Suresh Gowda”, the accused Praveen Sowmya had posted while replying to one of his friends Rangnath Gowdru’s post on August 25. Both of them were the supporters of JD(S) MLA D C Gowrishankar. Apparently, it’s in the wake of the former MLA and the incumbent indulging in mudslinging over the corruption issue, their supporters in social media are going berserk.

The former MLA’s supporter and ZP member Guluru Shivakumar had approached the additional superintendent of police Shobha Rani here on Thursday following which the new extension police booked the accused. Praveen hailed from Agalagunte village near Bellavi in Tumakuru rural and he has been traced, the police sources said. He will be arrested soon, they added.

Meanwhile, the BJP leaders have also written to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, his counterpart in the state G Parameshwara, state IGP&DGP and the Deputy Commissioner.
