Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Monday said that the state government will consider starting "Karmakand Purohit" courses and diploma and certificate courses in state-run Sanskrit colleges.
Sukhu, who chaired a meeting of the Himachal Pradesh Brahmin Welfare Board, said that an ideal society could be built only through harmony and brotherhood. Social harmony strengthens unity and fosters an environment of peace, goodwill and cooperation, laying a strong foundation for the progress and prosperity of any society.
The state government has also constituted a state-level task force to address the problem of stray and destitute cattle, he said, adding that "At present, 23,018 cattle are being provided shelter in 222 Gaushalas and cow shelters across the state."
Upon completion of seven more Gaushalas and cow shelters, an additional 2,200 to 2,500 destitute cattle will be provided shelter. The Gau Seva Commission is providing financial assistance of Rs 1,200 per cattle per month for the upkeep and maintenance of destitute cattle housed in Gaushalas and cow shelters, he said.
Sukhu also said that an estimate of Rs 1.28 crore had been prepared for reconstructing the damaged boundary wall around the Parikrama at Triveni Dham in Rewalsar of Mandi district. He discussed various schemes in detail.
He urged all sections of society to actively participate in the state government's extensive public awareness campaign against the menace of the drug 'chitta'.
