Abhyaas Junior College, Bachupally in Telangana was asked to refund the college fee of Rs 57,500 and pay a compensation of Rs 10,000 to a minor girl by the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Karimnagar, for causing mental agony to the student. She was transferred from one branch of the college to another, against her wishes.

The complainant took admission in Abhyaas Junior College of Bachupally branch after paying Rs 57,500 in advance towards the term fee. She attended classes for 20 days, after which she was transferred to Nizampet branch of the same college against her wishes. She refused to move to the new campus and sought a refund of the fee paid.

The Commission observed that the said college was deficient in rendering service to the complainant as promised. "The attitude of the college in answering the complainant after receipt of consideration comes under deficiency in service," the Commission observed. The Commission, however, allowed the college administration to deduct the fee for 20 days.
