The Government of Tamil Nadu has decided to accept the recommendations of the expert committee that suggested that incentive marks should be awarded to the in-service Medical Officers applying for post-graduate admission from remote areas as provided in the clause 9(iv) of the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2000.

The stakeholders, if interested in the re-classificaton of the areas, should submit their representations in the prescribed format furnished in the official websites to the Additional Director of Medical Education or Secretary of the Selection Committee, before May 31, 2019, 5 pm. Following the orders of the Madras High Court, the State Government had consulted a special expert committee chaired by retired High Court judge A Selvam to identify remote or difficult rural areas for awarding incentive marks to the in-service Medical officers for the admission to post-graduate or diploma courses from the year 2019-20. The MHC had passed the judgement on May 17, 2018, and the concerning Government order (GO (Ms) No.536) from the Health and Family Welfare department was sent on November 11, 2018.
