The National Young India Co-ordination and Campaign Committee, which was formed by student organisations and unions in India on December 24 with an aim to fight together against the CAA-NRC-NPR, organised a mass pledge taking ceremony in Delhi to defend the Constitution on Wednesday. The Young India committee urged over a hundred universities in cities across the country to take the pledge on New Year's Day. The event began at the Amar Jawaan Jyoti, India Gate around 2 pm in the afternoon and was simultaneously organised in several cities.

The Young India chapter in Kerala also organised the pledge to protest against the CAA-NRC-NPR at EMEA College, Kondoty, Malappuram. TP Asharafali MSF national president and member young India also read out the Preamble of Indian Constitution. A similar event was also organised at the Osmania Arts College in Hyderabad around 4 pm in the evening.

"We believe that this triple policy is essentially divisive and dubious. CAA in the context of Northeast violates the Assam Accord and also jeopardises the interests of the indigenous people. CAA-NPR-NRC all over India threaten to harass, target and disenfranchise numerous common people particularly the poor, minorities and other deprived sections. We Young India reiterate our resolve to fight for our sovereign, secular, democratic, socialist India! We have affirmed to achieve this through peaceful and democratic movements affirming equality, liberty and fraternity," N Sai Balaji, AISA national president, who is also a member of the Young India Committee said as a part of the pledge.

The Committee also pledged saying that they reiterate their resolve to give themselves a society that will be free of oppressors and "take oath to NOT SHOW ANY DOCUMENT to prove our citizenship, and we will observe and propagate complete NON-COOPERATION with anti-constitution and anti-India forces. We will campaign and convince others to not give dates, papers or any other information sought in the name of 'proving' our citizenship as we have, are and will be citizens of our dear country!"

Over 60 student and youth organisations, including student unions, student-youth movements from public and private universities such as IITs, state universities, civil society and others are a part of the Young India Co-ordination and Campaign Committee in order to enhance the scope and impact of the protests across the country.
