Akshatha M Kamath, a student of Expert PU College, Mangaluru and daughter of Dr Manjunath Kamath Ammembal and Dr Shanthi Kamath, secured an All India Rank 107 in NEET. Following her parents lead, she wants to pursue medicine, more precisely, 'Gynaecological Onco surgery', treating cancer in Gynaecological organs.

Akshatha was 'self-trained' for NEET. She was fine-tuned by her dad, her role model and her coach who planned her day's study schedule, she said.

Dr Manjunath, Laparoscopist and Gynaecologist, said while preparations were underway for two years, studies took a more serious turn only in the second year. "We experimented different ways of studying for the test and tried to figure out what the test was in the first year. It was only in the past eight months did we strictly get down to studying," he added.

Akshatha, a focussed student scored a 10 GDPA in class 10, CBSE. She secured a 568 out of 600 in PUC, state board. During her studies, she was also supported by her Biology teacher, she said. "I took a lot of online tests and enrolled for a Distance Learning Programme in medicine," said Akshatha.

Happy about her ranking in the admission exam for MBBS this year, Akshatha continues to wait for results in entrance examinations for AIIMS and Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research JIPMER.

As many as 22 students of Expert College Kodialbail and Valachil secured distinction in NEET examination. Akshatha M Kamath, a student of Expert P U College, Mangaluru secured an All India Rank 107. S M Santhosh secured 605 rank in general merit. Abrar Rehman M Maniyar and Apoorva T secured rank 4 and 10 in PH category.
