Mumbai, Maharashtra (PTI): Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Thursday said all recruitment examinations of the Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) must be conducted in a completely transparent manner and the government will provide all necessary assistance to implement reforms in the examination system.
He made the statement a day after the Mumbai Police arrested six persons, including three officials of the MPSC in connection with the paper leak of Drug Inspector Group-B examination held in March this year.
"There should be complete transparency in all examinations. This is the stand of the government," Fadnavis said while talking to reporters.
The police probing the case found that the leaked question paper had reached certain individuals, the CM said.
"But it is important that the MPSC cancelled the entire examination to maintain transparency," he said.
Fadnavis said the government had constituted a committee to suggest reforms and had also asked the MPSC to undertake internal reforms.
"All future examinations must be conducted in a transparent manner. The state government will provide whatever assistance the MPSC needs," he said.
The committee will visit different divisions and interact with students, teachers and other stakeholders to work out a "foolproof" system to prevent malpractice in future examinations, he said.
Fadnavis also criticised attempts to politicise the issue.
The chief minister said the government had taken action on the demands raised by the Maratha community and discussions with its representatives were continuing.
"I am confident that the representatives who are holding discussions with us will convey the decisions taken by the government to the community," he said.
The CM said the Mahayuti government had taken several decisions in the interest of the Maratha community.
"Since 2014 and up to 2026, it is the Mahayuti government that has taken decisions in the interest of the Maratha community. This is also known to the entire Maratha community," he said.
"If there is a need to take any further decisions, we will do so," Fadnavis said.
