New Delhi: Max Healthcare on Monday said it has partnered with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow (RCPSG) to jointly develop and deliver a fellowship in geriatric medicine.

Under the partnership, a one-year hybrid fellowship will be offered through the Max Institute of Medical Education (MIME), the academic arm of Max Healthcare, the company said in a statement.

Designed for practising physicians, the fellowship aims to equip participants with advanced knowledge, clinical competencies and a multidisciplinary approach to the comprehensive care of older adults, it added.

Upon successful completion, participants will receive internationally recognised credentialing, further strengthening their professional capabilities in geriatric medicine, the company said.

Commenting on the partnership, Max Healthcare Group Medical Director Sandeep Budhiraja said,"Our collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow represents a significant step towards developing clinical leaders equipped to address the complex healthcare needs of older adults."

As India's population continues to age, the need for specialised expertise in geriatric medicine has become increasingly important, he added.

Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow President Professor Hany Eteiba said,"By bringing together the College's long-standing expertise in postgraduate medical education with Max Healthcare's extensive clinical experience, we have an opportunity to create a programme that supports doctors in meeting the increasingly complex needs of older patients."

The collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening specialist medical education in India and building clinical expertise to address the evolving healthcare needs of the country's rapidly ageing population, Max Healthcare said.
