Kerala State Human Rights Commission on Thursday registered a suo moto case against a school in Aluva for not letting two students attend the annual examination and forcing them to stand outside the class under the sun.

KSHRC Chairman Justice Antony Dominic ordered to register a case against the officials of Settlement Schools. The action was initiated following new reports about the incident. Justice Antony Dominic also ordered Ernakulam District Collector and Deputy Director (Education) to file a report in this regard in three weeks time.

The incident took place recently after students of Class II were forced to stand under the sun without permitting to write their examination after they failed to pay the schools fees. Even as the state government issued an alert over possible sunburn cases, the school authorities forced the two young children to stand under the sun for several hours. The education department has already initiated an inquiry into the matter.
