IIT Delhi has made a profit of only around Rs 1.5 Lakh this year while conducting the JEE (Advanced) examinations. An RTI filed by a medical student Vivek Pandey revealed that the institute that conducted the examination this year collected a total of Rs 34,84,07,309. Its expenses, on the other hand, was Rs 34,82,54,l75. Previously, another RTI by Pandey had revealed that the National Testing Agency had made a little over Rs 200 Crore as the NEET entrance examination fee,

Every year, a different IIT gets the turn to conduct this All-India entrance examination that determines the admission to the IITs and a few other premier institutes including the IISc and IISERs. The exam, this year, was conducted on September 27, after a few postponements owing to COVID.

The results of JEE Advanced 2020 were out on October 5. Of the 1,50,838 students who appeared for the exams, only 43,204 passed, taking the pass percentage to 28.64%. The national topper Chirag Falor had opted out of the race for an IIT seat after he landed a seat at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He had then complained that it was quite suffocating to write the exam with a mask on. "The exams were challenging because we had to wear a mask all the time. I felt suffocated after a while. It also sends less oxygen to the brain and slows you down," he said, speaking with EdexLive.
