NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Education (DoE) has announced that non-plan admissions for Classes 6 to 9 in Delhi government schools for the 2026–27 academic session will commence on April 1, marking the start of a structured, multi-cycle process to accommodate eligible students across the national capital.

According to a circular, non-plan admissions are intended for students residing in Delhi whose schooling has been disrupted due to specific circumstances, such as the transfer of a parent’s job, as well as for students who were previously enrolled in private schools up to their last attended grade.

The admission process will be carried out in three cycles through an online registration system. The first cycle will run from April 1 to 7, with school allotments to be announced on April 21. Document verification for the selected candidates will be conducted between April 22 and 30. The second cycle will take place from April 30 to May 25, followed by the third cycle from July 1 to 25. The entire process is expected to conclude by August 31.

Parents seeking admission for their children in government schools must register online through the department’s website. However, students already enrolled in government or government-aided schools are required to approach their last attended school for transfer or readmission.

The circular further states that students who have passed their previous class will be registered online, while out-of-school children aged 10 to 14 years may register physically at their nearest school. These students will undergo an assessment of foundational literacy and numeracy before being placed in an appropriate class.
