The Tamil Nadu School Education Minister KA Sengottaiyan has said that the Class 10 examinations will not cancel as it would have a crucial impact on students' careers. While no relaxations have been made to the lock down, he said that further details regarding the exam will be released after May 3. He also said that no decision will be taken until the lock down is lifted. 

"Soon after the lockdown, we will also issue the time table and the hall tickets," he told the media. The State will also not have summer vacations in May, if the exam is scheduled, said Sengottaiyan, adding that the exams will be conducted within a short time period. "Each exam will last three hours and will be conducted every alternate day," he said. Usually students have atleast a few days of study holidays in between the exams giving students sufficient time to prepare for a difficult paper. 

Sengottaiyan also assured that efforts would be taken to ensure social distancing during the exam. "We anyway ensure that there is enough gap between students to prevent copying and malpractice," he said. He added that over 35,000 Class 12 students could not write one public exam conducted on March 24 and a re-exam would be conducted for the subject. Private schools should not intimidate parents and force them to pay fees, Sengottaiyan said adding that the government will take strict action on violators.
