Many medical students turned up for college after the medical colleges were reopened on Monday. Second-year, third year and final year MBBS students were asked to report to the colleges. The students were asked to come with the COVID test report.

Meanwhile, deans at the city government medical colleges said the students were under quarantine as per the guidelines issued by the State government. However, a few students at the Madras Medical College said classes began for students who came with COVID test reports negative.

Speaking to Express, Dr P Vasanthamani, Dean, Government Kilpauk Medical College said, almost 90 per cent of students turned up on the day. The students came with the RT PCR test report, still, they were kept under 14 days quarantine as per the guidelines. Saying the same, Dr P Balaji, Dean, Government Stanley Medical College said, "We continue to take online classes for them. On the day a total 638 students reported to the college."Dean, R Jayanthi, Government Omandurar Medical College said, -"We continue to take online and in-person classes for students to maintain social distancing.
