After the Tamil Nadu government has cancelled the tenth standard SSLC Board Exam, Puducherry also cancelled 10th class exam, Chief Minister V Narayanasamy said on Tuesday.

Talking to newspersons here, Narayanasamy said, Puducherry is yet to set up a Board of Education on its own and efforts are on in this regard.

As Puducherry is following the Tamil Nadu Board of Education, the announcement made by Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will be binding on Puducherry too.

The 16,709 students in Puducherry and Karaikal region of the Union Territory will be promoted on the basis of their semester examination marks and on their attendance, he added.

The Chief Minister also pointed out about Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao cancelling the 10th class examination on Monday.

On the pending one examination for the plus two students, Mr Narayanasamy said it will also stand cancelled and the promotion of the 14553 students will be decided on the basis of their semester marks and attendance.

On the reopening of schools and colleges in the UT, the Chief Minister said that it will be decided as per the guidelines issued by the Central government.
