Navdeep Dalal, an NSUI activist who has been on a hunger strike seeking postponement of NEET and JEE has been hospitalised, after he lost consciousness on Friday. Navdeep, along with five other activists had begun an indefinite hunger strike in front of the NSUI headquarters, asking the government to cancel all exams during the pandemic and seeking a fee waiver in all universities. His condition is said to be critical. 

At the same time, the NSUI National President Neeraj Kundan and another activist Kunal Sherawat have been asked to get hospitalised, owing to low blood pressure and sugar levels. However, the duo has denied hospitalisation and said that they will continue to fast until the government takes a positive decision. “We are on an indefinite hunger strike for 25 lakh students, who have to pay the brunt for electing this cold-blooded government which is anti student fraternity. We are here to fight for them," said Lokesh Chugh, national media in-charge, NSUI.

At the same time, Delhi Congress leaders and workers, including its president Anil Kumar, were detained by police on Friday during a protest against the entrances. While JEE is scheduled to be held from September 1 to 6, NEET will be held across various centres on September 13.
