More than 165 persons including Chief Education Officer (CEO), district education officers (DEO), teachers among other school education department officials are to visit schools on Monday to inspect schools reopening on Tuesday for classes 10 and 12.

Tiruchy CEO R Arivazhagan said, "Sanitisation works are over in almost 70 per cent of the schools and would be over by Monday. Each person in the inspection team would check on compliance using a checklist that is already provided to them. They would visit two to four schools each depending on the proximity." The completed checklist would be submitted to the health department. The schools would also collect consent letters from parents of those wards choosing to attend school and make it possible to continue online classes for those who opt that. The CEO, however, said that they were expecting over 90 per cent to choose classroom learning.

In addition to making ready sanitisers and hand wash facilities in all schools, thermal scanners and pulse oximeters were to be made available. The CEO said that Tiruchy district collector S Sivarasu has already given over 250 scanners to government schools and more would be acquired by the headmasters utilising available funds like RMSA (Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan). A meeting with DEOs and headmasters is also scheduled for Monday the CEO regarding reopening. "Fifty per cent of the syllabus to be covered for the students have already been distributed to teachers through Whatsapp. It would be given to all students.," he said.

"The first two days would be orientation classes and there would be no academic classes. The teachers would help students shed any reopening blues and worries about board exams and elaborate them on the reduction in the syllabus," he added. They would also be made aware of the standard operating procedures like not shifting places allotted to them in the class, not encouraging visitors to schools, not leaving campus among other things.
