Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP and veteran leader Subramanian Swamy, has been vocal about the postponement of NEET and JEE for the past few weeks. While he had previously said that there is no hope of a reversal of the Supreme Court order, Swamy Tuesday took to Twitter to argue that if colleges are not being opened now then there can be no reason for the students to sit for the NEET exam right away.

Swamy argued that if there are no classes there needs to be no admissions for the time being. His tweet went viral in minutes. "Now that it has been decided that colleges and institutes will re-open only in January 2021, there is no reason not delay the NEET exams to after Deepavali when the weather will be better and Coronavirus threat lower," tweeted Swamy on Tuesday.

Swamy on Sunday had tweeted that he was disappointed with the situation and wished the students had come to him earlier. "I wish you people had come to me first. I am also disappointed that none of the CMs who could have taken a stand of no test before mid-November but did not. PM did not answer my phone call. Asking the SC to reverse their earlier judgment is almost impossible," he had said.

With the JEE Mains exam conducted over six days came to an end without too many glitches, the NTA has to be prepared for NEET. The exam will be held on September 13 and will see 15.97 applicants take the test from over 3500 test centres. This year the number of centres have been increased from 1,314 to 3,860 to help follow safety protocols better.
