EdexLive Desk

School Education Department officials said that only 2792 applications had been received between August 27 and September 25 to avail of the admission in private schools under RTE Act. This is a drastic drop from last year's 60,000 applications. The number of applications have come down by 95 per cent.

The act insists private schools provide 25 per cent seats to underprivileged children who are from the poor economic background.

The random selection for the seats will be held tomorrow and the selected candidates' list will be displayed at the respective school notice board on October 3. The officials said that the random selection process will be conducted at schools in the presence of parents and representatives from the school education department. The parents are asked to adhere to COVID-19 norms while attending the programme.
