After students protested the University of Hyderabad's administration's decision to close the hostels after the government relaxed travel rules, the order was revoked by the varsity within the day. The student representatives have also been assured that they would be consulted before any decision is taken.

On Monday, the University sent an email to the students asking them to vacate the premises since the government had relaxed transport rules. They also mentioned that the hostel staff were travelling from red zone areas and that in such a situation it was not safe for students to remain on campus. 

However, students raised objections as only those who had no way to get home or felt unsafe about going home were the only ones who had stayed back. Many students from Maharashtra were also worried that they would be forced to quarantine or contract the virus unnecessarily during their travel. The Students' Union President urged the administration to ensure more safety on campus instead of pushing out the students. 

After the Union protested against the administration's decision, they were told that the notice would be revised, "The administration has said they will review and revise the notice. But only after they consult  with student representatives," a Union member said.
