JNU students submit response to Dean again: Will the JNUSU election results be announced tomorrow?

Johanna Deeksha

The Election Committee of JNU submitted their response to the administration on Monday morning. This time, however, only a handful of members went to the dean's office to submit their response, unlike last time when almost the entire EC went together. "Even though there were protests, we were able to submit our letters. Now we have to wait and see what happens," EC member said.

Each of the members had filed their individual responses last time, but this time they drafted a written response with the help of legal counsel. And since a lot of the students were missing out on their academics and classes because of the ongoing tussle between the EC and the administration, the members decided that only a few would go to submit the response. "We can't keep skipping classes every other day for this so we decided only a few of us would go," another member said.

There were some political student groups that were still protesting against the GRC and in support of the EC. However, this time around the EC members were able to submit their response without any issue. "Our response is pretty much the same as it was for the previous notice except for a few minor changes," a member said.

The results of the JNUSU elections held on September 6 are still on hold as the Court will decide only tomorrow whether the results can be released or not. The student community is also worried that by accusing the EC of violations, the election results could be nullified.
