The school education department has instructed the higher officials including chief education officers of all districts to attend a video conference on Friday regarding the biometric attendance system. In a circular, the school education director S Kannappan said the video conference is regarding the linkage of Aadhaar of the teaching and non-teaching staff of government and aided middle schools.

Kannappan further said the video conference would give them a brief on linking the unique identification number with the Aadhaar Enabled Biometric Attendance System (AEBAS). A meeting headed by the director himself and officials of National Informatics Centre (NIC) is expected to provide the orientation to the education department officials through the live video conferencing method.

Therefore, all the chief education officer (CEO), district education officer (DEO) and block education officer of all districts were asked to attend the meeting at the respective NIC's at 2 pm on Friday. Similarly, the officials were asked to collect the list of the high and higher secondary schools where the biometric attendance system was not effectively implemented. The data collected must be compiled in a spreadsheet and should be presented during the meeting, Kannappan added.
