Girls' hostel matron of Tripura University gang-raped: Accused roams free even after one month

A renowned Manipuri literary personality and the matron of Tripura University girls' hostel remained deprived of justice as a month ago she was gang-raped and molested by a group led by TU Upper Division Clerk(UDC) Manas Kumar Pal and the accused left absconding for a month after the complaint lodged with police in the state capital.

According to sources, the matron of the Girls' Hostel was gang-raped inside the premise by a group led by the University Upper Division Clerk Manas Kumar Pal and 8 others on August 7. Then they threatened her with dire consequences. Her fault was to raise voice against some irregularities and embezzlement of the University staffs. On August 10, she lodged a complaint with the local Amtali police station.

She also informed the entire matter to different officials of the administration and University as well. But even after one month till date, the accused remained at ease. She is a renowned literary personality and received different awards from state and abroad. But the state administration failed to provide her justice till now which created astonishment.
