Belagavi City Commissioner of Police D C Rajappa and Superintendent of Police Sudheerkumar Reddy along with their teams celebrated their New Year with the children of Mahesh Foundation in Kanbargi village of Belagavi taluk on Tuesday.

Rajappa emphasized the importance of inclusiveness in society and also shed light on the rights of the HIV infected. He said that today, nobody can point at an individual and identify their medical status or discriminate based on that. Rajappa motivated the children from the care home as well as of Utkarsha Learning Center through his speech.

He spoke about careers in police forces and encouraged children to aim to become IPS or KPS officers. He toured the facility and was impressed with the amount of work that has gone to make the lives of the children comfortable. Rajappa lauded the infrastructure of the school that is probably the first of its kind in the city while admiring the fact that Mahesh Foundation does not take a single rupee from the children towards their education. He was especially appreciative when he came to know that the Foundation provides free food and transport to the children which are enrolled in the school. The children, which were excited to meet the two police chiefs, asked several questions about police and careers associated in that force.
