Telangana's Intermediate Education Board to take up recounting of failed students' answer papers

EdexLive Desk

In a key move, the Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has decided to take up re-verification and recounting of answer papers of failed Inter students on its own.

The students who had failed in the Inter exams held recently need not apply for the recounting or re-verification of answer papers, according to the BIE sources.

Sources said that the failed students who had already applied paying the fee for re-verification and recounting of their answer papers would be refunded.

It may be recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, in a bid to calm down the agitated students and their parents, had instructed the officials concerned during a high-level review meeting on Wednesday to take up re-verification and recounting of the answer papers free of cost.

Meanwhile, angry protests by Inter failed students and their parents continued in different parts of the state.

The BJYM activists staged a dharna in front of the Ministers' Quarters in the city protesting against the Inter results goof-up.

The Congress gave a call to all its party workers to conduct protests in front of government offices in all the district headquarters on the issue.

An all-party delegation will meet Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan later in the day to post him about the Inter results bungling.
