Principal District Sessions Judge, Kadlooru Sathyanarayacharya told student community that life is a wonder created by supernatural power and no one has the right to take away the life given by God. He was addressing World Suicide Prevention Day organized by District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Legal Services Authority, Health and Family Welfare Department, District Police, Zilla Wenlock Hospital, Information Department in association with Ramakrishna Hospital.

Addressing the students, he said that most of the reasons behind student suicides are domestic ones and trivial in nature.

"There is also enormous pressure on academics as the institutions are competing for their accreditation. These issues should be addressed and healthy atmosphere should be created for the student community. The students, on the other hand, should realize that they have their duties too towards parents, teachers and society," he said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Kumara reiterating that life is precious and God-given, told students that a life without values would end in disaster like suicide. "There should be ethics in life and one wins in life by fighting challenges," he said.

Pointing out that three students have committed suicide in a week's time, he expressed his concern that education should be preparing students to face life and mere marks or academics would not equip a child to face life. Followed by the inaugural event, a technical session on Stress and Suicide was conducted by psychiatrist Dr Caroline DSouza.
