Films are an excellent medium to reach people with the message of environment conservation. Today it is most important that we have to take immediate steps to create awareness among people on environment and issues like conserving energy, said BVS Krishnamoorthy, Director, AP National Green Corps. He was inaugurating Paryavarana, a two-day film Festival on Environment at Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam on Wednesday.

He appealed the 900 school children in the audience to plant a sapling and to watch it grow into a tree that provides shelter to many. He told the students to make good use of the festival and watch a variety of films that are not in the public domain. "Rare films that are not available online and are made by extraordinarily creative directors showcasing environment and wildlife will be screened," he said.

The students who attended the event were greeted by a colourful display of pictures in an exhibition  by Birdman Karthik and B Balasubramanyam. Professor Neelima BN, SPMVV had exhibited her paintings of the wildlife. Over 15 films were screened on the first day. Among them, 'the falcon amur', 'revenge of the tiger', 'quenching thirst' and 'path of a fish', were much appreciated by the audience.
