The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam results were out on April 27 and once again, we have some unlikely heroes who made the cut. Some of them fought patriarchy, others battled their own achievements to secure a position in over 9.5 lakh applications from across the country. 

Their journey ended up giving us a few inspirational stories to learn from. Here are the best of the lot: 

Durishetty Anudeep (28): AIR 1

As a kid, Telangana's Anudeep Durishetty wanted to make his country a better place to live in. His dream wasn't deterred while growing up and not even when he failed three attempts. He first attempted the test in 2012 and it was only after five exhausting attempts he got what he really wanted. IAS was his ultimate dream because even after working as an IRS officer in Jagatpal, he was determined to give the UPSC exam. Durishetty is now excited to serve his homeland Telangana as an IAS officer. 

Anu Kumari (31): AIR 2

A mother of a four-year-old, Haryana's Anu Kumari had to stay away from her ever-supportive husband and her child for a year to prepare for the exams. While this could emotionally break anybody but Anu decided to use this as her strength and was even more determined to crack the exams. She studied 12-14 hours a day and refuted Haryana's patriarchal norms to achieve her goals. As civil service-aspirant since childhood, she is extremely proud to be appointed as the brand ambassador of 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' scheme in Haryana. 

Sachin Gupta (31): AIR 3

Sachin Gupta, who was working with a private company in Gurugram, had no reason to leave his high-paying job and settled life to attempt UPSC, except the fact that he really wanted to serve the country. Sachin not only had to leave his job but also had to move cities, between Delhi and Bangalore, to fulfil his dreams of becoming an IAS topper. Like anyone would, even Sachin and his parents were sceptical about his move but Sachin was clear to take that leap and it goes without saying that now everyone is happy that he did.
