New Government Order gives priority to disabled teachers over others with regard to transfers

In a move that could bring some cheer to the differently abled community, the Tamil Nadu State government has issued an order on Wednesday that will give teachers with disability priority over others when it comes to transfers.

According to the GO, those with total blindness will be given the topmost priority if more than one teacher is seeking to be transferred to the same place. 

The GO lists out the order of preferences that will be given to the other categories, those seeking kidney and heart transplants take the secondary preference. Those with the disability with 50 percent or above will be given the fourth preference. Those with less than 50 percent disability find themselves in the seventh position int he order of preference.

The GO also makes it mandatory for teacher and parents of children with mental disability or disability of 40% or above must be certified by the district rehabilitation centre in accordance with the1995 act.
