For NEET PG aspirants trying to set a realistic score target, the previous year's result data offer a useful benchmark. An analysis of the NEET PG 2025 result shows that the competition becomes particularly tight once candidates move into the higher score bands.

The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) reported the NEET PG 2025 result with candidates' total scores out of 800 alongside their All India Rank.

The score distribution shows that a candidate's rank can change considerably with relatively small differences in marks.

NEET PG 2025 marksApprox. rank range
600–6241,130–3,090
575–5993,091–6,517
550–5746,518–11,310
525–54911,311–17,547
500–52417,548–24,966
475–49924,967–32,813
450–47432,814–41,589

The official result contains individual examples that illustrate the pattern. One candidate with 600 marks secured rank 2,990, while another with 595 marks was ranked 3,600. A score of 555 was associated with rank 10,196 in another entry.

What the 2025 data suggest

  • 600+ marks: Strong position, with the 2025 distribution placing candidates in the top few thousand.

  • 550–599 marks: Broadly associated with the 3,000–11,000 rank zone.

  • 500–549 marks: Competition becomes considerably wider, with ranks extending beyond 17,000.

  • 450–499 marks: Candidates were largely in the 25,000–42,000 rank range.

The figures should not be treated as a guaranteed NEET PG 2026 rank predictor. The difficulty level of the examination and the overall performance of candidates can alter the score distribution each year.

For aspirants, however, the 2025 result provides one clear lesson: setting a score target is useful, but the ultimate objective should be to maximise rank because even a small improvement in marks can move a candidate substantially higher in the merit list.
