Two medical students suspended for ragging junior in RIMS, Kadapa

On February 21, two senior students of Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Kadapa, house surgeon Bharat Kumar Reddy and MBBS third-year student Srinivasulu, asked their junior Manohar to strip and as a punishment, they asked him to sit on the edge of the wall by balancing on his legs in his inner. After this, they forced him to do 600 sit-ups.   

Principal Dr V Prasada Rao issued orders to suspend the two second-year students who have been allegedly ragging the junior for three months. Police have also registered a case and are investigating the matter.

The victim informed his parents about the ragging who then met the principal and lodged a complaint.

Principal Dr Prasada Rao held a meeting with the college committee. Anti-ragging committee members, police officials, college professors and faculty members attended it to discuss the issue of ragging.

At this meeting, they decided to suspend Bharat Kumar Reddy and Srinivasulu for three months from the college for indulging in ragging.

The principal warned the students of stringent action if they indulged in ragging again. The report of the ragging issue was submitted to District Collector C Hari Kiran and SP KKN Anburajan.

RIMS police registered a case under various sections of the Anti-Ragging Act and are investigating the matter. The duo has been taken into custody for questioning.
