After a hue and cry about a missing IIT Madras student, the Kotturpuram Police has today found that Rushik Reddy Korrapati was safe and had gone to Kanyakumari for a yoga session. "Rushik will be back to Chennai this evening," says the investigative officer at the Kotturpuram police station. "He had informed his father about the trip. But he was worried after Rushik's phone was switched off," she adds. He was last seen in the hostel on 29 November.

Rushik's father Prabhakar Reddy had come to Chennai on Monday after he was unable to reach his son and had filed a missing person's complaint. He also found that Rushik had vacated the hostel with his luggage a few days back, without informing anyone, which left him worried. 

A native of Andhra Pradesh, the 21-year-old Rushik is pursuing his dual-degree (B Tech plus M Tech) in IIT Madras.

A similar incident had occurred around three years back, where Pratyusha Purushothaman, an MS student in IIT Madras went missing from the hostel. In a note, she said that she'd gone to the Himalayas in search of spirituality. She was later rescued from the Ashram of a fake saint Shiva Gupta near Dehradun.
