All-women Lady Doak College in Madurai to host men's volleyball tournament for the first time

For the first time in the history of all-Women College of Lady Doak in Madurai will be organising Intercollegiate Volley Ball Tournament for Non-Teaching Staff (Men) on January 25 and 26. While addressing the media on Wednesday, College Principal Christianna Singh said that LDC is the first women's college in Madurai and Katie Wilcox, an American missionary who strove to make higher education accessible to the young women of Madurai in 1948.

This year college is celebrating its platinum jubilee in commemoration of seven glorious decades of dedicated and committed service to the cause of women's education, she added. She further said that as the part of the college's platinum jubilee celebration college management is organizing a State Level Intercollegiate Volley Ball Tournament for Non-Teaching Staff(Men) and she believes that it is the way to recognize the non-teaching staff and their potential and they are the backbone, pillars of the effective functioning of the college, she said.

She also said that in the women's college men are a minority and it is our honour to encourage in the way of promoting physical fitness and college has sent invitation across Tamil Nadu. Till now eight colleges registered for this tournament. The tournament will be inaugurated by Tamil Nadu Football Association Vice President D Dhanushkodi and the winning team will be awarded Rs 5000 and a trophy, she added.
