The Tamil Nadu Teachers Association has requested the government to announce which portion of the syllabus has been excluded for students this year. The Association claimed that with the board exams nearing, the teachers and students were confused about what to study and what to leave out and wanted the government to let them know soon.

In a statement, the Association said that it was grateful that the government had handled the COVID-19 situation so well and appreciated the fact that the education department had started telecasting education videos. The government launched the channels for students who didn’t have the privilege of accessing online classes, after the teachers realised that they would not be able to reach all the children. 

“We welcome the move to reduce the 50 per cent of the portions for students from Class 1 to 9 and to cut 35 per cent of the syllabus for students in Class 10-12. But the announcement to reduce the portions was made a long time ago but we haven’t been informed about what chapters have been excluded. Students are very confused about what to study and what to leave out and they are panicking since the board exams are fast approaching,” said PK Ilamaran, the President of the Association. 

“If the students are not informed about the course details and the syllabus that they are supposed to study, they will lose interest in studying. So instead of delaying the announcement till the very last minute, please let us know what the syllabus is. We’ve been making this request repeatedly,” he added
