MIT ADT University student Shreya Bansal has been selected in the top six finalists in the Student Design Competition sponsored by the VR/AR global summit conference 2020 recently.

A first-year student studying Masters in Immersive Media Design at MIT Institute of Design, Shreya has come up with a concept of an interconnected cafe in the post-COVID-19 period, a release said.

Her work has been featured in the live global level design competition, which was part of the annual VR/AR conference. The challenge was to design a space that encourages digital socialization or innovative social distancing.

Shreya designed an interconnected cafe which allows a person to share a cup of coffee or have a meal with their friends and family from a different city, state or even a country while sitting right in their nearest cafe.

By using a holographic device and a gesture-based device on each table, the customer can see the menu, order food, pay the bill, video call, speak to new people, attend live concerts, stand up comedies, live music, all of these right from the their seats, release added.
