The Lawrence School, Sanawar on Monday organised the fifth COVID-19 Relief Distribution camp in less than a fortnight. The School Headmaster Himmat Singh Dhillon distributed dry ration bags to 30 stranded migrant workers from Nepal.

The dry ration bag included 10 kg atta, 5 kg rice, 2 litre cooking oil, 3 kg sugar, 2 kg lentils and 1 kg salt besides three hygiene items such as mask, sanitiser and a soap. "There should be no loss of life due to starvation and the civul society should come forwards to prevent any starvation death due to corona virus crisis", he said.

The headmaster, Himmat Singh Dhllon, thanked the old Sanawarian fraternity in general and Society president General Kulpreet Singh (retd.) in particular for his continued support in this endeavor. "Giving back to society is the integral part of the educational ethos of Sanawar, and we will continue to contribute our selfless service to society in hour of need such as this one. We shall soon overcome this," he ended optimistically.

Gopal Vimla, a migrant worker from Nepal was overwhelmed when she said, "I have no words to thank the school for this. My family has been starving for almost a week now but this timely help has given us hope". Sunita, another migrant construction worker from Nepal said, "This lockdown has rendered us jobless and helpless. We possess nothing but our labour. How are we supposed to live and feed our families without work. Sanawar School is our savior in this hour of adversity."

The school bursar Jaisheel Kaushal, sensitised the beneficiaries about the need to maintain social distancing and good hygiene practices to prevent the spread of Coronavirus. Renu Ohlan, Rajpal Chauhan, Kumar Gautam, and Kamal was also present on the occasion.
