Nuzvid IIIT student commits suicide after tiff with boyfriend, case registered

A 19-year-old student of Nuzvid IIIT committed suicide by hanging from the ceiling in her hostel room on Sunday afternoon. The incident came to light when the fellow girl students in the hostel noticed R Sri Bhagyalakshmi (19) hanging and informed the college management.

According to Nuzvid police, Bhagyalakshmi hails from Gokavaram village of East Godavari district and pursuing third year Computer Science Engineering (CSE) course in the Nuzvid IIIT campus. While her father Durga Rao is a carpenter by profession, mother Ramadevi is a homemaker. The girl was last seen in the hostel mess around 1 pm taking over with her boyfriend and was depressed, "Bhagyalakshmi reportedly met a boy recently and they are seeing each other."  

They are some disputes between them and that might be the reason behind her committing suicide. "Before taking the extreme step, she called her brother and told him that she was depressed. She further told him that she is going to commit suicide. Minutes later, she went to her hostel room and committed suicide," said the Nuzvid police. A case under section CrPC 174 (suspicious death) has been registered and investigating the case to ascertain the facts behind her decision.
