The Supreme Court of India will soon hear a fresh petition seeking the postponement of NEET, which is scheduled to be held on September 13. Advocate KTS Tulsi will be arguing for the petitioner Keshav Maheshwari and others. The plea will be heard by Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy and M R Shah.

The plea along with postponement will also seek an increase in the number of centres and holding of the exam in a span of 5-6 days, instead of one day. The court had previously dismissed a plea seeking the postponement of NEET along with JEE. A review petition on this matter, filed by ministers of six Indian states was also dismissed. JEE was held from September 1 to 6 in various centres across the country.

A lot of students had raised their voices against conducting the entrance examination, amid rising COVID cases. BJP veteran and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy's was one of the most prominent voices here. Swamy had asked the government to conduct these examinations post-Deepavali. "Today in SC when NEET matter comes up it will be K T S Tulsi who will argue the case for students. He is a superb advocate. When I was Law Minister in 1990-91 I had made him Additional Solicitor General. So I know. Thus there is hope. But in life nothing is certain unless it happens," he tweeted.
