Despite undergoing six bone surgeries, Mangaluru students tops SSLC exams

Sinchana wants to become a doctor, an orthopedician, specifically, after she has extensively interacted with them through her backbone surgeries

Despite undergoing a series of bone surgeries in the past five years, this young SSLC topper showed enough spine to face the challenges thrown at her and emerge triumphant in the SSLC board exam. Sinchana Laxmi, student of Vivekananda English Medium High School in Puttur had not one or two but as many as six major surgeries, as she was diagnosed with scoliosis.Her father has seen a fighter in his daughter, a determined medical enthusiast. 

Ever since class five, through class nine, Sinchana was taken to Ganga Hospital in Coimbatore where she was treated for her upper back. -"She did not attend additional coaching classes, but just paid rapt attention in school during regular classes. Her older sister who is pursuing her engineering also helped her out whenever she had doubts,-" said her father Muralidhar Bhat B, who is a treasurer at Vivekananda Engineering College in Puttur. Sinchana's mother is Shobha MB, a home maker. Sinchana wants to become a doctor. An orthopedician, precisely, after she has extensively interacted with them through her backbone surgeries, he added. 

She has turned an inspiration not just for her younger sibling who has just started school, but also those in the neighbourhood and class, who learn from her undeterred spirit.Sinchana scored 624 out of 625, securing 100 in all core subjects, 125 in Sanskrit, 100 in Kannada and 99 in English.

Carnatic musician

SSLC topper Student of Sri Venkataramanaswamy English Medium High School Bantwal, Anupama Kamath was one of the toppers of the SSLC examinations of 2018-2019. 

Daughter of doctor couple, Anuradha Kamath , a pediatrician and Dinesh Kamath, skin specialist at Government Wenlock Hospital, she looks forward to becoming a scientist with ISRO. She has not been enrolled in any coaching so far.

Anupama will start her preparations to get through the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, said mother Anuradha. Anupama continued to pursue her passion for classical music and dance. -"She had completed senior grade in Bharathnatyam and will soon give her Vidwath examination. She is also practicing for senior in carnatic music vocal,-" she added .While sincere efforts were shown in preparations for her exams since April, the previous year, she is said to have practiced her art , turning her hobbies into a stress buster, helping her secure a 624 score.
