Congress Rajya Sabha MP and Senior Advocate Vivek Tankha will now represent the CBSE students in their petition in the Supreme Court, seeking the cancellation of compartment exams. The petition is yet to be listed and will be taken up along with a similar petition filed by a student called Shakti Pandey.

"Happy to help distressed CBSE students who are facing the compartment exam. We empathise with the catch 22 situation," Tankha tweeted on Monday. The petition was initially expected to be listed on Monday. "A dedicated team of young lawyers is assisting in the matter and helping the students," the tweet read. If sources are to be believed, Tankha is representing the students pro bono. The petition was moved by the student political organisation All India Students' Association, where around 800 students were signatories.

Previously, another Congress Rajya Sabha MP and Senior Advocate Dr Abhishek Manu Singhvi had represented a student called Yash Dubey pro bono in his petition that sought the postponement of the university examinations in accordance to the UGC guidelines. The petition was, however, dismissed.

The CBSE Class X compartment exam will be conducted on September 22, 23, 25, 26 and 28, while the Class XII examinations will be held on September 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 28 and 29. the admit cards for these exams were released on September 12.
