Anna University warned candidates applying for faculty positions not to fall prey to touts. The administration said that they had received complaints of unauthorised persons getting in touch with aspiring candidates and telling them that their names are on the list of selected candidates for a certain financial consideration.

Anna University Registrar L Karunamoorthy said that the University had been receiving complaints with valid proof, “The middlemen are telling the aspirants that they can get them appointments and that their names are on the selection list.”

The University had recently notified 312 vacancies including the posts of assistant professor (139), associate professor (106) and professors (67) after six years. More than 2000 candidates had applied for the 312 vacancies that were available on campus. "Applicants are strictly advised not to fall prey to such phone calls/ any other mode of communications,” the registrar warned aspirants. The University had promised to take action against these unauthorised persons.
