5,138 posts of teachers lay vacant in Himachal Pradesh: State Education Minister

The minister informed that 169 posts of Junior basic teacher are laying vacant and 142 others have only one teacher

As many as 5,138 posts of teachers of various categories are falling vacant in the state, Himachal Pradesh Government stated in the house on Friday.

Replying to a query raised by Pawan Nayar of Chamba and Aaha Kumari of Dalhousie, Education Minister, Suresh Bhardwaj informed that Government Primary school Sakreen-2 and Juwan in Chamba district have no sectional strength of teachers.

Bhardwaj said that teachers from other schools have deputed to those schools where no regular teachers were posted by so far and two schools are running without teachers white 142 others have the strength of only one teacher.

The minister informed that 169 posts of Junior basic teacher are laying vacant and 142 others have only one teacher. "Comparing to the recruitment of about 7,171 teachers by the previous Congress, present BJP government has so far filled 6,268 posts in last two years," he said.

He said that Jai Ram Thakur Government Cabinet gave recruitment of sanctioned strength of baroi categories which would be filled batch-wise. Minister stated that as many as 1,191 Government Primary school are working in Chamba district having sanctioned strength of 2313.

He said that 2144 primary standard teachers were posted in the district and only 169 posts are lying vacant.

He noted that direction have been issued to Subordinate Service Selection Board Hamirpur to fill the vacant posts of Trained Art Teachers (TAT) batchwise and that shortage of teachers is still prevailing in Shimla, Chamba and Sirmaur district mainly.

Asha Kumari appealed the state Government to post regular teachers in teacherless schools.

She asked the government to rationalise the posting of teachers as many schools are working with four to five teachers having very low strength of students.
