In a funny yet sharp call for awareness, a manhole that posed danger to residents and was long ignored by authorities was on Wednesday given due importance after a student from the Chamarajendra Academy of Visual Arts (CAVA) highlighted it with a three-dimensional painting of a shark. 

V Shivaranjan's 3D painting compelled the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) to fix the damaged, half-open manhole near Gopika school at Yaraganahalli that has caused frequent mishaps for over two months. Shivaranjan was passing through the same road when the manhole caught his attention and he decided to colour things up a bit. 

The fine arts student decided to bring the issue to the Muncipal Corporation's attention in a blend of colours. Later that week he decided to work on a painting and by the time of completion had already piqued the interest of curious locals. When word reached the local Corporator, a quick fix was done and a labourer was sent to the spot. He repaired the manhole by redoing the concrete slab around the vent before closing the lid.
