Hyderabad youngster Sai Teja proves that sometimes innovation has nothing to do with education. Here's how

After the several inventions he has come up with, next up, he wants to do something for the farmers and the agricultural community and is working on it currently

Siripuram Sai Teja is a born inventor. We say this because despite dropping out of class X due to a severe health issue, he continued to hone his skills in coding and innovation. This 22-year-old hit the headlines recently for inventing a smart alcohol detector for cars. There are around six sensors installed in the vehicle, including near the driver's seat. "If these sensors detect an alcohol level of 30% or upwards, the engine will automatically stop and then doesn't start at all," explains Sai Teja who was born in Korutla in the Jagtial district of Telangana. It will also send an SMS alert to the configured numbers. His recent inventions also include a three-in-one bicycle, which runs on battery, solar power and water. Then there was a drone with a mini camera that costs only `430, as compared to the extremely expensive ones available in the market. But it was the bicycle that he made last year which caught the attention of his current employers, thanks to the local MLA who shared its videos across WhatsApp groups. The MD and CEO of Smartron invited him to join the Hyderabad-based IoT company directly. Currently, he is working as a hardware engineer. "The company completely supports me," says the youngster.

Not just this, this polymath also is a micro artist and a painter. Sai Teja, who is currently pursuing an open degree, carves names on the lead of a pencil and on wood as well. Like coding, he learnt micro art from YouTube. He judiciously divides his time between the office and all his artistic and innovative pursuits. We wonder, what keeps him going? It's the support and encouraging words of his parents. "My parents are extremely supportive. They say that just like former president APJ Abdul Kalam worked hard and one day, everyone knew his name, I should be prepared to work hard to earn a good name," he concludes.
