The District Collector has directed the private buses operators to maintain Inspection registers in all the buses

District Collector S Sambasiva Rao has warned private bus operators and bus crew of strict action if they behave rudely towards students for travelling on fare concession. The Collector has informed that the license of the bus crew concerned would be cancelled if any complaint from students regarding the harassment they face while boarding buses, is found true. Strict action will be initiated against conductors and other private bus employees if students are being forced to wait outside the bus until the bus is about to start the journey or until all the full fare passengers have occupied seats in the vehicle, the Collector said during the Students Travel Facility Committee meeting held here on Monday.

The District Collector has directed the private buses operators to maintain Inspection registers in all the buses. The officers with the Motor Vehicles Department (MVD) should inspect these registers at least once every three months, Collector informed. The officer has also directed the private bus operators to provide concession to students on last year's travel concession card as it will take some time to issue the new cards to all students.

The Collector has also warned strict action against fake concession cards. The meeting at the Collector's chamber was attended by Sub Collector V Vigneshwari, Regional Transport Officers AK Sasikumar and V V Madhusoodanan, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Traffic North) P K Raju, private bus operators, students union representatives, representative of educational institutions, among others.
