To honour the students who were active in the relief and rehabilitation of flood-affected people, the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) will be providing grace marks to them. This was announced by CUSAT vice-chancellor, J Latha on Wednesday.

The university will also organise a function to honour it students who were active in relief camps and other rescue works. Around 2459 flood victims from Paravoor, Kunnamavu, Varapuzha, Aluva and Kalamassery were staying at CUSAT after water gushed into their houses. Around 10 camps are functioning incident CUSAT campus. These camps were functioning at School of Engineering, School of Legal Studies, Instrumentation Department, Ship Technology Department, School of Management Studies. Around 1000 flood victims returned from flood relief camps at CUSAT till Wednesday. All the relief camps were integrated and functioning as one camp at School of Engineering since Wednesday.

Around 500 volunteers comprising, university lecturers, students, former students, officials and employees of Infopark were working round the clock at the camp. The Indian Navy was holding the charge of cooking and distributing food at the campus. The Indian Navy has informed CUSAT authorities that food would be supplied till August 25.

Similarly, a medical cell monitoring health condition of the flood victims was operation at the campus. The counsellors were present at the campus to attend to the victims. The cleaning process will start as several agencies have started providing necessary goods for it.
