The National Institute of Education International (NIE), Singapore, in collaboration with the Department of School Education, Government of Andhra Pradesh, has proposed a 5-day Professional Development Programme titled "Designing Learning, Inspiring Thinking" for teachers from Andhra Pradesh from May 4 to 8.

The programme is designed to strengthen teachers' professional competencies and prepare them to equip students for a rapidly changing global environment. It focuses on transforming the role of teachers from mere providers of knowledge into learning facilitators and instructional designers who can foster deeper learning, critical thinking, creativity, and student engagement in classrooms.

The programme will also provide participants with exposure to innovative pedagogical approaches, contemporary assessment practices, effective classroom management strategies, and learner-centred teaching methodologies followed in Singapore's education system.

Participants will work in teams with the Singapore team and present how they plan to apply the learning in Andhra Pradesh schools. Certificates will be awarded upon successful completion of the programme.

Following the successful completion of the exposure visit to Singapore, the participating teachers will implement the acquired best practices in their respective schools by adopting learner-centred and competency-based teaching methodologies that promote critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and experiential learning among students.

The teachers will redesign classroom instruction through improved lesson planning, activity-based pedagogy, and effective facilitation techniques inspired by the Singapore education system. They will also share their learnings with fellow teachers through school-level workshops, demonstrations, and mentoring sessions to ensure wider dissemination of innovative practices across the state.

Emphasis will be placed on creating future-ready classrooms, strengthening assessment strategies, enhancing student engagement, and improving overall school culture and academic outcomes in alignment with the objectives of the Government of Andhra Pradesh and the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
