The Ministry of Education today released the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025 rankings, marking the 10th edition of the annual exercise.

Indian Institute of Technology, Madras

IIT Madras retained its #1 rank in Engineering for 2025, continuing its dominance from 2016.

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi

IIT Delhi secured it's 2nd spot since 2019

Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay

IIT Bombay bagged it's 3rd position since 2019

Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur

IIT Kanpur secured it's 4th spot since 2020

Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur

IIT Kharagpur secured it's 5th position from last year.

Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee

IIT Roorkee maintained its #6 rank for another year.

Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad

IIT Hyderabad moved up by one step to 7th spot from last year.

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati

IIT Guwahati slipped one spot to 8th rank from last year.

National Institute of Technology, Tiruchirappalli

NIT Tiruchirappalli continued at #9, holding strong in the top 10.

10) Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) Varanasi

IIT (BHU) Varanasi remained unchanged at #10 from last year

Birla Institute of Technology & Science - Pilani

BITS Pilani Moved up nine spots to bag 11th position this year

12) Indian Institute of Technology, Indore

IIT Indore moved up by four spots and ranked 12th in Engineering category this year.

National Institute of Technology, Rourkela

NIT Rourkela jumped significantly to #13 in this year, up from #19 in last year.

S.R.M. Institute of Science and Technology

S.R.M. Institute of Science and Technology dropped to 14th rank by one rank from last year

Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad

IIT (ISM) Dhanbad stayed consistent at #15 for 2025 as well.
